What is dodge statue?

The Dodge Statue refers to a bronze statue of a male youth holding a discus, which is located at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The statue was commissioned in 1883 by the Dodge family in honor of William Earl Dodge Jr., who was a former student and prominent businessman. It was created by French artist Jean-Antoine Injalbert, who designed the original sculpture in Paris before casting it in bronze in France. The statue was then shipped to New York City and transported to Wisconsin by railroad. The Dodge Statue was unveiled in its current location on the main campus lawn in 1893 and has become a symbol of the university and its athletic programs. It is also known as "The Bronze Badger" due to its association with the school's mascot.
